Betsy McCall Paper Doll 1981
Betsy debuted as a paper doll in 1950. She appeared in many issues of McCall's Magazines until 1996. She was primarily a little clothes horse, promoting outfits by specific designers as well as McCall's dress patterns for little girls and their dolls. In 1981, McCall's published just one paper doll Betsy with a brief story about how Betsy took pictures on her vacation. Betsy's camera appears to be an Instamatic. In 1956, American Character released an eight inch Betsy doll and continued to manufacture her until 1963. These dolls are hot collectibles today including one named "Shutterbug" who came with a doll camera accessory. |
