Wild Thornberry Explorer Eliza
by Mattel 1999

Explorer Eliza, a "fully poseable figure", was a breakthrough for Mattel. She is their first doll whose camera is associated with exploration, documentation, and adventure instead of merely vacation travel or fashion. According to the box text, Eliza likes to observe, take pictures and write notes. Unfortunately she's got an unappealing, oversized head and prominent buck teeth with braces. She probably looks better on TV where she's an animated cartoon character on the Nickelodeon Wild Thornberrys series. The fact that I found Eliza on K.B Toys' half-price shelf does not bode well for her future. |
