| The Little Photographer was printed in Holland in 1942 for the Saalfield Publishing Company of Akron, Ohio. In it, Danny shows Julie how to take a picture with his camera. He then pole vaults into a fountain and she gets a great shot! When the picture is developed at their Uncle's camera shop, instead of complimenting Julie on her extraordinary photo, he reprimands Danny for doing such a dangerous thing. The story ends with Danny and Julie promising only to take photos of "beautiful and safe things." Julie's potential career as a brilliant photojournalist was thus nipped in the bud. |
